Based on the success of the last four Apportunity events Djuice, Telenor Pakistan’s youth-centered brand, has officially announced Apportunity 2015. The idea behind Apportunity is to bring together innovative and talented individuals and give them a platform to exercise and showcase their abilities. Like the previous events, the event will be open to all budding software developers. This time around Telenor has even partnered with Microsoft and numerous other industry giants to ensure guidance and mentorship for the participants.
Participants will be required to develop mobile apps for Android, Windows or iOS. The apps are to be developed in the categories of education, health, internet of things, entertainment, disaster management and several others. However, education is the top priority here. Participants who submit ideas for the education category will stand a chance to win $13,000 and represent Pakistan in the Global Digital Conference in Thailand. The apps in the education category should pertain to toddlers, distance learning or learning for the disabled. Apps submitted in other categories can win $8,000.
The winning apps will be featured on the Telenor App Store, which has recently enabled the option of in-app purchases to allow users without credit cards to buy apps with mobile credit.
Registrations are open till the 15th of June. If you’re interested then apply here. After applying, the app details need to be sent to apportunity@telenor.com.pk by July 30th.
