Dell Ceases All Operations In Russia And Ukraine To Join The Western Ban On Russia.

Western countries including the US and 37 European countries have started to impose bans on technological bans on Russia and the Kremlin which, according to their plans, is supposed to stop the technological progression in Russia and Russia would ultimately stop the war in Ukraine in order to dismiss the bans. The US computer manufacturing company Dell is the latest on the list but actually stopped operating a few weeks back.

Dell was silent in this regard till now but they have broken their silence as their spokesperson revealed the Russian ban in a recent interview with Reuters.  Dell spokesperson Mike Siemienas told Reuters.

“In mid-August, we closed our offices and ceased all Russian operations, back in February, we made the decision to not sell, service, or support products in Russia, Belarus, and the Donetsk and Lahaska regions of Ukraine, in addition to the already embargoed Crimea.”

Russia annexed the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 and recognized self-styled, breakaway republics in the Donetsk and Lahaska regions of eastern Ukraine in February, moves condemned by Ukraine and Western nations, which have imposed sanctions on Russia.

Dell has already started to face criticism as there are major manufacturing units in Russia and thousands of engineers and workers were left unemployed when Dell decided to cease its operations, just like many other companies employees were left hanging out in the dry. Another critique that Dell is facing is the ban on Ukraine. Most of the advancement for the war came from Russia but the operations are banned by Dell in both Russia and Ukraine which does not make any sense.

Deputy Industry and Trade Minister of Dell, Vasily Shpak as said on Friday.

“We are monitoring the development of the situation, according to our data, the vast majority of Dell’s R&D center specialists and support engineers in St Petersburg and Moscow have already received job offers with competitive pay from Russian producers.”

The duration of this ban is not yet confirmed, no one knows when the war is going to stop. Or how long it would take to restore the Western ban if Russia decides to back off. And what if Russia does not stop and takes on Ukraine, will the West never come back to Russia? Only time can answer these questions and we will also have to wait.
