Founder of Rocket Internet, Oliver Samwer, is interested in introducing Black Friday Sales in the country. For the uninitiated, Black Friday happens every November in US in which retailers offer promotions and discounts for buyers as a way to initiate pre-Christmas shopping.
Although, Black Friday is an American creation, Daraz wants to offer this experience to Pakistani buyers as a way to encourage people to shop online and win their trust. Yesterday, we told you guys that Daraz has raised over 50 million US dollars to expand its operations in other emerging markets.
Currently, the shopping website is getting 6 million visitors a month and it is spending over 1 million pounds on exclusive Chinese smartphones being sold on their website namely Infinix Hot Note.
Recently, the website held an online one week TechMela too which included deals on smartphone and mobile applications. Moving forward, Daraz is looking to involve taxi drivers and university students through their ambassadorship program to devise an efficient marketing and delivery channel.
