Crossy Road Clucks Its Way From iOS to Android

Crossy Road is a game that might just answer the age long question of “Why did the chicken cross the road?”. While the answer is open ended, this app says that the chicken crossed the road to gather coins and be able to buy new characters.

The game was previously exclusive to the iOS. It was only a few hours ago that this chicken crossed the internet super high way and landed into the Google PlayStore.

Crossy Road managed to sweep a number of accolades under its belt last year and even won “Best of 2014” in the App Store. The other places where this chicken has managed to gauge interests include:

As with any other game, this game is also victim to in-app purchases but this at least stops ads in the game. The in-app purchase items are primarily cosmetic items but I prefer the original Chicken because of the cluck sound.

There are many other skins or costumes to purchase in all shapes and sizes. You can either buy these for a varying amount of currency or you can try your luck, spin a 100 coins and get one of them by a slot machine.

Another unique aspect that I thoroughly applaud the developer on is how they have included an option within the menu to help conserve battery and turn off shadows. This is an option you rarely or never seen in modern mobile games.

The app does have the typical features for sharing screenshots on social networks and the game also awards you with a bonus gift after an interval to help encourage you to keep playing. While the latter can be seen as a blessing and a curse because the game will even pester you with notifications outside of the game to tell you about your “free gift” to pull you back in, this can easily become annoying but due to the new feature to block notifications from select apps in Android 5.0, this shouldn’t be a problem for you.

While the game is a tribute to the classic arcade game, Frogger, This is one of the best 3-D versions of the game I have seen, the game motivates you by outrunning an invisible wall to escape death. The game is definitely worth a download for those who like to play mobile games, you will easily be revisiting this game during long commutes and always striving to beat your own high score or friends.

Here are some Screenshots of the game to show you just how well built this game looks. The block textures really do a solid job of making the game look colorful and radiant when it’s in motion.

You can download the game from the PlayStore by going Here, or by searching for it from your phone’s PlayStore App, but on the off chance that you missed this game on your iOS device, you can download the game from the App Store by going Here.
