CPEC Helps Pakistan Overcome Energy Crisis

In recent news, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) assisted Pakistan to overcome its recent energy crisis to ensure that there is no economic disruption. According to the Energy Minister, Hammad Azhar, mentioned that the power plants under CPEC are highly important as they solve serious electricity shortage issues in the country. Moreover, these power plants introduce more job opportunities for the country’s youth.

In addition, CPEC’s southern power plants and transmission line project has recently started and is expected to come up to commercial operation later this year. In a nutshell, this will lead to more energy supply, stability, and security.

Moreover, the government with the aid of CPEC aims to accelerate renewable energy and target it in the national grip up to 30 percent in 2030. Currently, the power plants are providing Pakistan electricity at the cheapest rates which will further be transmitted through the HVDC line as the previous transmission lines wasted about 18 percent of the energy supplied.

However, Pakistan is able to now fully meet this demand through the BRI which is presently injecting electricity into the country’s national grid, hence meeting the demand of both domestic and industrial consumers.
