Maybe it’s biased or they haven’t reviewed Huawei’s innovative flagship yet, Galaxy S9s are the beasts, according to Consumers Reports.
A recent report from Consumer Reports puts Samsung’s recent releases at the top spot when it comes to smartphones – calling up comparisons once again of the Galaxy S9 vs iPhone X. The report explains that, despite the Galaxy S9 and S9+ failing to significantly improve upon the previous models, the two each received a total score of 81, which places them ahead of the S8 Active and S8 Plus top the list.
We always had a bad impression on this report even when it earlier ranked iPhone X below Galaxy S8 in its last year’s ratings. Not because Apple was underestimated but due to the fact that top seven spots of Consumers Report’s ranking were occupied by the flagships of Samsung and Apple, completely ignoring Google’s Pixels and Lg’s V30.
As of now, the Consumer Reports have crowned the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus number one, earning the highest rating from the watchdog by accrediting a total score of 81 to each model. The new rankings of the Consumer Reports are as follows;
According to the report, there were multiple reasons that Samsung’s phones came out on top this year. Consumer Reports highlights the durability of the devices, stating that the S9 phones perform much better than their predecessors when subjected to drop tests. Both survived over 50 drops, and the S9 came away from 100 drops with “minor scratches.”
On the negative side, Consumer Reports also criticised S9’s features like AR Emoji and super slow-mo as a marketing stunt and impractical, respectively. The report also noted that these handsets had a bad battery life as compared to company’s own Galaxy S8 variants.
Concludingly, there are a few challenging flagships, ranging from Sony’s XZ2 trio to the upcoming OnePlus 6. However, our money might be on the Huawei P20 Pro, — if Consumer Reports can find one to review.
