Cloud Storage Applications you should try

Cloud Storage

A few years ago when cloud storage services weren’t existent, Companies used local servers to keep the record of their files but as the companies grew they started requiring more and more servers. Servers were expensive and they require so much power.

Cloud services solved all of these problems, cloud services manage your data on the Internet – the data is always available online and very easy to access and use. Cloud Computing has minimized resources required to run any business. Cloud is an on-demand service, which means it is available to you whenever you need. The cloud storage is at its peak these days. It’s growing immensely and making our lives easier. All of these benefits are for companies and big organizations. Today we’re going to make your life easier by suggesting you some applications that will let you back up and synchronize your data via cloud storage to all of your devices.

How cloud storage can help our end users?

Organizing the data is a really tiring work especially if you have many devices and you use all of them. For example, you have taken a few pictures from Mobile Phone – How are you going to transfer those to your tablet and PC. Transferring the data by any manual process is tiresome and time consuming. Wouldn’t it be great if all of the data is effortlessly shared with all of your devices?

There are many cloud storage services, which provide limited storage on space so you can save your important files and easily access them from any device. The greatest thing about keeping files on cloud is that the files are on the Internet Servers so they don’t take any space on your computer or on your phone.

Advantages of keeping data on cloud

All the data on the cloud storage is protected. You will still have your files in case your device gets stolen. You can easily synchronize your pictures, music, documents and other items on all of your devices wireless-ly. For example all the photos I take from my phone are automatically uploaded to my Cloud Storage. By putting your important files on a Cloud you can save space on your devices.

Here are a few cloud services apps that you can get on your smartphones.

Dropbox

Dropbox is a simple and straight forward application that lets you share your data easily with all of the connected devices. Dropbox creates a virtual folder on all of your connected devices that keeps your shared files. You can access the Dropbox folder easily on all of these devices. Once, you put any data on any of the device’s Dropbox folder it is automatically synced and shared with all of your devices. Another thing that I love the most about this Software is that you can make a folder with a link and can easily share it with anyone in the world.

If you own a Samsung or HTC Phone chances are, you will get this application bundled with your phone. With the auto-upload feature whenever you take a picture it will be shared with all of the connected devices. So now you won’t have to go through the hassle of keeping the data cable everywhere you go.

Initially you will get 2GB of storage space. Dropbox has a referral program too; with every new registration of a user through you – you will get some space free as a reward. : )In case there’s a situation where you don’t have the app you can still access your files via the Dropbox website.

Google Drive

Google Drive is one of the most top grossing Google Powered Application. It works just like Dropbox but it has some special features too. Google offers you 15 gigabytes of storage for free; Google drive has a better interface, which we have found a bit faster than Dropbox and the files are presented very beautifully.

On Android version of Google drive; there is also has an option to edit the photos directly from the app. The pictures are automatically organized according to their location and date. Google has made sharing a big feature in Google Drive -sharing photos, videos and files are easier in Google Drive.

You can also access you Google Drive from your Gmail account.

Sky Drive

When it comes to competition Microsoft joins in as well – (But as usual pretty much late to the party). Microsoft re-branded SkyDrive in March. Microsoft gives 7 Gigabytes of storage for free. Just like Google Drive and Dropbox, SkyDrive also creates a virtual folder and keeps updating it on all of your devices.

The interface is better than Dropbox but not as good as Google Drive. It works the best on Windows 8 and PC. SkyDrive also features a smaller version of Microsoft Office. This means you can have a work environment in SkyDrive too.

You can even post your files directly from your SkyDrive to your social networks like Facebook and Twitter from your phone.
