He, along with his fellow winners from across the globe will also get the opportunity of a three month research stay in Germany for establishing research collaborations and career development, in 2016 in addition to a 2-week trip to get exposed to contemporary research collaborations and career development.

‘Being the recipient of this award is a (matter of) great pride to the CIIT and myself too. I take this opportunity to thank (the) CIIT family for providing me a platform where people are encouraged, motivated and supported to excel and master their inner abilities.’ – said Dr. Naim Rahid, while sharing this news with CIIT Management.

Rector CIIT, Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi also congratulated Dr. Naim on winning the award and for increasing the country’s pride and encouraged him to “keep up the good work.”

Dr. Naim Rashid, a PhD degree from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), has focused his work on making Bio-energy from cheap sources like locally available feed stocks, such as poultry waste, kitchen waste and plant biomasses and microalgae. He used microalgae in fuel cell for bio-diesel production and electricity generation. The most unique feature of Naim’s research is that it uses spent microalgae instead of the most commonly used oil-enriched biomass.

His work will promote Bio-energy research in Pakistan.
