Chrome Will Now Warn When You Should Not Trust An Extension

In recent news, Google is now releasing new safety features for Chrome that will allow users to detect any malicious add-ons, downloads, and extensions. These features are based upon the ‘enhanced safe browsing feature’ which provides better warnings against phishing sites.

This in fact a handy feature if you’re heading into a website to download an application or program and you get prompted to install an extension you don’t even know about but are forced to do it either way.

In this Chrome feature, the new time you install extensions the browser will now show a warning if that extension is dangerous. However, if you’re on the developer side and looking to have your extension trusted then developers will have to follow the ‘Developer Program Policies’ which you can check by clicking here.

However, as a user, if you download something harmful chrome will show a pop-up warning that will mention ‘proceed with caution’. However, you’ll still have the option to install the extension. However, if a file is considered too dangerous for your device Chrome will simply block it.

This is because Chrome scans the files you download and bases on what it contains decides whether it’s harmful or not.
