China to invest Rs. 6 billion to digitize KPK schools education

China will be investing Rs. 6 billion in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education sector to digitize the curriculum of schools across the province. The notification stated that the investment will not only allow the KPK government to meet modern demands of education but also completely revamp education techniques by using the latest technologies.

Previous initiatives to modernize education led by Dr. Umar Saif have digitized the textbooks grades from 5th to 12th. The eLearn Punjab website contains 13,047 Video Lectures to provide students with an additional resource. The initiative led by the Chinese government for KPK is on the same lines as the government envisions to build a “learning management system” which will be deployed for use across every school in the province.

As per the notification, the Chinese government officials invited representatives from all 4 provinces before deciding to invest in KPK due to the quality of the education system there. This project is expected to be implemented in 3 phases, in the first there will be small rollout with only a few schools being digitized as a pilot testing stage and afterward, they will be implemented in other areas of the province. A delegation led by CIECC Director General Senior Engineer Prof Lu Zhenli is expected to arrive in Peshawar this month to inaugurate the project.

The Chinese government will bear all the expenses of the project until it has been completely implemented.
