PlanX, one of Pakistan’s best-known startup accelerators, is organizing a one-day summit which will comprise of startups’ showcase, speaker sessions, and networking activities; they are calling it Demo Day. Demo Day is usually organized at the end of an acceleration or incubation program to help the startups get funding from interested VCs — PlanX is doing it differently.
I reached out to Hafsa Shorish, Program Manager at PlanX, to get to know more about what is happening behind the curtains. According to Hafsa, PlanX believes in collaboration and uplifting the whole tech-entrepreneurship ecosystem, which is why they have partnered with entrepreneurial organizations all over the country namely Peshawar2.0, invest2innovate, LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship, and Plan9. This is going to be a one of a kind event because startups will be traveling from all over the country to gather and showcase what they have been doing. She also added that they received an overwhelming response from startups. In order to maintain quality, and to make sure that the best ones get the most attention, they will allow only the shortlisted startups at the venue.
With the participation of these many startups, investors aren’t likely to stay behind either. Therefore, PlanX has invited investors to meet and network with these startup founders at the event. Hafsa hasn’t disclosed the names but she gave a hint that a number of investors, both from the country and abroad, will be joining them at the event.
In addition to startups, students and established organizations will also have opportunity to display their products in booths allocation to them.
PlanX is also working on conducting speaker sessions and networking opportunities for the attendees. The speakers who have been finalized yet are Burak Büyükdemir & Umair Jalianwala and more will be disclosed at the official PlanX website very soon.
The event will take place at Arfa Karim Software Technology Park, Lahore on March 26th. Last date to register for the event is 18 March. If you are a startup, a student working on a great product, an established organization or just a curious soul who wants to know more about the country’s tech-entrepreneurship culture, register here for the event right away!
UPDATE: The second day of event is not open for everyone and it’s a close activity by PlanX management.
