Careem to launch in 15 more cities

Careem has announced to expand its services to about 15 cities of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

After extending its car-hailing services to six more cities of KSA, Careem will be available to about 23 cities of Saudi Arabia. In Egypt, the service will be provided to three more cities. In Pakistan, its services will be expanded to about six cities. Cofounder at Careem, Mudassir Sheikha said,

“Our mission is to make people’s lives simpler by providing a variety of convenient transportation solutions that respond to local needs. As a homegrown company, we have in-depth knowledge of the region and we tailor our services to ensure we offer convenient transportation options that have a meaningful impact on the local population.”

Careem just launched in Turkey as an airport service initially, which means it will be available to the customers going to or from airport. Mudassir said,

“Launching Careem in Turkey is a key milestone in our journey to reinforce our position as the leading car booking service in the region and we look forward to further expansion across this dynamic market.”

Founded in 2012, Careem is a Dubai-based car-hailing service which is operating in about 47 cities of Middle Eastern North Africa (MENA). It aims to provide safe, reliable and affordable services to its customers. Customers make a trip request through the Careem application on their smartphones and then drivers pick them up. Careem has millions of registered users. Careem faced criticism in Egypt because of official taxi licenses’ issues of some drivers. Earlier Careem and its rival Uber also got suspended in Abu Dhabi.

The names of cities in which Careem will be launching its services are yet to be disclosed.
