Careem is planning to launch its food delivery service in Pakistan as per MENAbytes after it was rolled out previously in Jordan, without any fanfare, however. Careem Now lets you order food from nearby restaurants, similar to Uber Eats in America. Careem partners with local restaurants and their menu items are displayed on their native app for customers to order.
As per the publication, Careem is currently reaching out to various restaurants in Karachi and onboarding them for the launch of Careem Now in the next few weeks. Karachi has a huge selection of restaurants and a successful pilot at that city could help Careem secure a big market share throughout the country.
Currently, Careem offers delivery service through its apps which you can use to practically deliver anything. But when it comes to food, if you want the taste to last then you need a dedicated service for it. And Careem is serious about its food delivery service, stating at the time of launch that it intends to spend around $150 million to make it successful.
According to Adeeb Warsi, Managing Director of Careem Now, more than 85% of current delivery services are done via call-and-order methods. Careem can offer a vastly superior service through its infrastructure and network.
Careem and Uber recently increased the prices of their rides due to inflation and devaluation of currency as well as increase petrol prices. With a dedicated food delivery option, users would be able to stay at home and order food directly at their place by only paying a small fee. Careem has the most competitive rates in the areas where Careem Now has been deployed.
