Careem captain shot dead in Islamabad

On Thursday, early morning police found the dead body of Careem’s captain named Junaid Mustafa in Islamabad near street 79, sector G-13/1.

Mustafa was 26 years old, he was a Rawalpindi resident and was working with Careem for last three months.

He picked a ride on Thursday night from F-11 Markaz in Islamabad around 2:35 am on February 22 while drop-off location was also not entered by the person who booked the ride which makes this case more suspicious, according to Gobra police.

According to police, he was shot from 30-bore pistol multiple times in the chest and on left arm plus his right hand and arm also have signs of injuries. Furthermore, the gunman who, supposedly, shot him, took his Suzuki Wagon R with its registration book and two mobiles.

Gobra police have registered a murder case against an unidentified person. The FIR stated that “one of the victim’s stolen phones had been tracked to a location on the motorway”.

After that incident, all Careem’s captains have announced strike on Friday against the company saying because of company’s new policy, drivers are forced to pick rides even from dangerous places and have to uphold their own security first.

Soon after that incident, Careem officially released a statement on Twitter. This is the complete statement from Careem’s side;

Due to criticism on Careem on social media due to unfair policies, Careem had to release another statement.
