Car-booking service Careem, stepped into Pakistan earlier this year in May. After testing the service thoroughly in Lahore, it has decided to widen its sphere and plans to launch in one of the most densely trafficked cities, Karachi.
Just a few weeks ago, we told our readers that the company has raised $60 million in its third round of financing. The target was to enhance and deepen the roots of the company in Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. Some portion of the investment will be spent in Pakistan, which is why, we are seeing the service aggressively marketing on digital media.
Karachi is one of the largest metropolitan city in Pakistan with a huge traffic, therefore an accessible and reliable taxi booking service is certainly a need of time.
Currently the city is flooded with local transportation but, unfortunately, these vehicles are in deplorable conditions. The conditions either lead to environmental pollution or inconvenience for the passengers and people on road.
Local transportation is in very unsatisfactory condition in Karachi and to top it off, there are security concerns too. How will Careem be able to win the trust of its users and make the service safe and secure, is a question we have right away, because one wrong move can topple the table.
For the uninitiated, Careem is a car booking service that lets you order a ride of your choice with just a few clicks on your smartphone (available for iOS and Android). The service is also available for large corporations and multinationals.
