Most people tend to assume these days that Software Engineers are the highest paid people in tech. Of course, a person who codes and makes complex programs should be the most amount of money. But as it turns out, that is not the case. There are some people are whose skills are more valuable than a Software Engineer’s.
According to a report from Hired, who connects IT people with various companies, Product Managers are the most coveted people in tech and are paid the big bucks as compensation. They are tasked with making the most important decisions regarding any product, be it a device or an application. Based on the results of the last quarter, Product Managers were paid $133K on average.
The next highest paid employees are the ones everyone is looking for these days: Data Scientists. Interview requests for data scientists have grown considerably which goes to show the intense demand there is for people great with data. Then we see Software Engineers, who see the most number of interviews – 56,000 to be exact which is the highest of any tech role. The people in the design sector have seen a little slump in their salaries but they still continue to be the most interviewed people, second only to Software Engineers
However, it should be noted that these salaries are from data collected in the US and these numbers vary in other countries. For example, the average salary of a Software Engineer was $129K in the US but decreased to an average of $80K in the UK, $62K in France, and $67K in Canada.
