ByteDance Introduces OmniHuman-1: AI-Powered Realistic Video Generator

TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, has unveiled OmniHuman-1, an advanced artificial intelligence technology that can create lifelike human films using only a single shot.

This AI can make a still picture look like it is talking, playing instruments, and moving in a realistic way, which makes it more advanced than other tools.

According to ByteDance, OmniHuman-1 is a huge step forward from the state-of-the-art AI video technologies since it can make convincing human-like videos with just a picture and some sounds.

It supports animating portraits, half-body, and full-body images, guaranteeing realistic hand gestures, body language, and facial expressions.

This AI technology outperforms competitors and delivers high-quality outcomes in diverse settings, according to a study report published on arXiv. While most artificial intelligence models are limited to altering facial expressions, OmniHuman-1 is capable of creating animations including the entire body and even animals.

Researchers demonstrated OmniHuman-1’s ability to generate lifelike motions from various perspectives by sharing example movies on Beehiiv. In one case, the AI is shown in a grainy black-and-white clip of Albert Einstein directing his natural speech and gestures toward a blackboard.

In addition, OmniHuman-1 utilizes a variety of input forms, such as text, speech, and bodily movements, and was trained on more than 18,700 hours of human films, according to ByteDance. Its ability to produce ultra-realistic films is a result of its deep learning strategy.

When will OmniHuman-1 Launch?

Currently, there is no set release date for OmniHuman-1, as it is still in the research phase. When released to the public, the tool will go up against OpenAI’s other offerings, such as Pika, Sora, and Runway.

With the release of Deepseek, competition in the global AI race is heating up, and ByteDance’s newest model is hitting the market at the same time. It also emphasizes the rise of China in this sector. AI-generated films can be used in ways that might be misleading.
