Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced his challenge for 2015, which is to read a new book every other week related to different cultures, beliefs, histories and technologies. Last month, he requested his fans to suggest him with different challenges that he should do in year 2015. He received around 50,000 responses among which most of the suggestions were related to reading challenges.
Mark has created a Facebook page – A Year of Books where he will be sharing his chosen book every week in 2015. You can follow along the page to read the same book and then share your views about the book in the comment section of the post.
Remarking on his new challenge, Mark says, “I’m excited for my reading challenge. I’ve found reading books very intellectually fulfilling. Books allow you to fully explore a topic and immerse yourself in a deeper way than most media today. I’m looking forward to shifting more of my media diet towards reading books.”
The first book of the year is The End of Power by Moisés Naím which explores “how the world is shifting to give individual people more power that was traditionally only held by large governments, militaries and other organizations.”
Some of the other suggestions for Mark included: give money to help people in need, meet a new person every day, teach a class, and learn about a new country, read Bible or a book suggested by another person. However, Mark has done most of these suggestions in previous years apart from reading more books.
The above suggestions are great ideas to become one of your New Year challenge. Are you excited to follow Mark’s reading list?
