The massively popular yearly Black Friday Sales made its way to Pakistan for the first time this year. As soon as the ecommerce website Daraz announced the sale, other ecommerce players didn’t stay behind and join the bandwagon of Black Friday.
Daraz, Kaymu, HomeShopping, and iShopping are some of the websites which organized special deals for their buyers. These sales garnered huge interest of online buyers, as we told our readers earlier, both Daraz and Homeshopping website went down as soon as the Black Friday Sale was started. There can be two reasons for this; one, their were some issues with the website, second – which we are more inclined to believe, the huge traffic overload crashed the servers.
Although both of the websites were accessible after a while, the websites did black out every once in a while due to excessive load.
Now as the frenzy of the world’s busiest shopping day comes to an end, Daraz has went ahead with some figures on this sale.
The ecommerce website got 1.5 million visitors in 24 hours. More than 8000 smartphones were ordered before noon. Total value of customer discounts on products that were sold was Rs. 132 million. More than 30% of the orders were completed the very same day of Friday Sales. 25% of the orders were made from mobile application of Daraz.
Social Media in Pakistan went berserk on the Sales Day with videos of Women cat fighting for pieces of discounted lawn and frustrated customers who couldn’t get their hands on their favorite deals on time.
With the amount of hype, discussions and figures mentioned, it appears that this particular day turned out to be very valuable for online websites and brands. Black Friday does have arrived and this sale is ought to become a tradition in Pakistan.
