Bixby button can now be completely disabled on Samsung devices

Samsung introduced a new button on their smartphones with the launch of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The new button is dedicated to the Samsung’s new virtual assistant called Bixby. When the phone was launched, Samsung completely blocked the remapping or disabling the button. But after a few more updates, Samsung finally allowed users to disable the Bixby button. But there was still a problem that pressing the Bixby button woke up the screen and that is king of annoying.

But now, with the latest update, Samsung finally allows its users to completely disable Bixby button on their phones. To get the latest update, you need to go to the Galaxy App store and update all apps which have the word “Bixby” in it. The apps include “Bixby”, “Bixby Home”, and “Bixby Service”. Once you update all of these apps, you’ll be able to completely disable the Bixby button by going to settings.

To disable it, you need to go to Bixby app and find the “Bixby Key” in settings and select “Don’t open anything” from there. Once you select it, your Bixby button will completely stop working and it will not even wake up your screen anymore. Samsung still does not allow you to remap the button for some other function but we hope that Samsung will enable it in upcoming updates.

Samsung Bixby is quite similar in function to the Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri. Users can activate the assistant by just saying “Hi, Bixby”. Users can ask Bixby to perform different tasks like setting an alarm, asking for weather, setting up a meeting or even ask it to perform some complicated tasks like not to disturb you between specific hours. Samsung is also reportedly working on a Bixby-powered smart speaker too with which the users would be able to control different systems in their house using voice commands.
