The billionaire co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates apparently thinks himself as Harry Potter, a “minor wizard” on which the magic spells of the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, didn’t work. Though he admitted that those spells had everyone else mesmerized.
While speaking at a recent TV program on leadership on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS”, Bill Gates assumed that Steve Jobs was a master of wizardry who did “cast spells” and was able to “mesmerize” people, as reported by Bloomberg. However, all those tricks didn’t work on him because he believes;
“I was like a minor wizard because he would be casting spells, and I would see people mesmerized, but because I’m a minor wizard, the spells don’t work on me.”
Gates admitted that Steve Jobs could be an “asshole” (probably regarding issues with his daughter) and was occasionally difficult, but Gates explained that “he brought some incredibly positive things along with that toughness.”
While talking about entrepreneurial and inspiring skills of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates said that Jobs was not only good at impressing with his own ideas but also exceptionally capable when it came to sniffing out skills in others and motivating those people to produce good work for him. He said that there is no one else who can rival Jobs when it comes to picking and motivating talent.
To conclude, Gates spoke quite fondly of Jobs, who was both his competitor and collaborator at times. He also expressed admiration for Apple co-founder’s talent. While referring to Jobs’s introduction in 1988 of the NeXT computer, which “completely failed” eventually, Gates said that “it was such nonsense, and yet he mesmerized…people.”
