Karachi: Chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), Ameer Qadri has been removed from his position following growing concerns from students regarding the 2024 Intermediate Part-I results. The decision was taken on Friday after numerous students expressed dissatisfaction and requested a review of the results.
In the interim, Sharaf Ali Shah, Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi, has assumed control of the BIEK. Furthermore, Qadri has been asked to explain his “unauthorized trip abroad.”
In response to the concerns, Qadri had previously defended the results, claiming that the Intermediate Part-I exam results were merit-based and followed all legal procedures. “The results of intermediate Part-I, first year, are based on merit and we are saying this with complete responsibility,” He said.
He expressed his readiness to address the concerns of students over the results. “Under this, answer sheets and assessments were conducted on merit and as per law”, He added.
Qadri encouraged students to submit checking forms if they were dissatisfied, and he guaranteed them that the answer sheets may be seen to them with the help of their parents and a professor of choice.
The results have prompted concerns about academic standards, with experts pointing out the high failure rate, particularly among pre-medical and pre-engineering students.
