Azad Kashmir government to take strict action against online abuse

Online abuse and unethical content on social sites are increasing while governments and concerned authorities around the world are trying to suppress and curb such content from online platforms. This time the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has stepped up and decided to curb and stop online abuse from all three divisions of the state. The government has constituted a task force comprising of local authorities and intelligence agencies under the National Action Plan for this purpose.

According to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government, Divisional Commissioners of Muzaffarabad, Poonch, and Mirpur will head the task force. The government has also ordered the task force to make an effective system to monitor content on social sites and take actions according to cyber laws.

The case of online abuse and publishing unethical content on social sites is rising in Pakistan. Just a few months back a man was arrested for posting Blasphemous content on a social site.

The government of Pakistan has also started taking strict actions against online abusers. The Cyber Crime Bill also states that online forgery, cyber threats, and hate speech will be dealt with harsh punishments. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) of Pakistan arrested a man for creating a fake Facebook profile of a woman and harassing her in the process. The culprit was brought before the court and was sentenced to serve 12 years in prison. Additionally, a man was arrested from Lahore and was jailed for two years on grounds of photoshopping and uploading pictures of girls online.
