Aurat Raaj, a Pakistani startup, has won a BAFTA Award for the animated series of its AI chatbot, Raaji.
Called The Ultimate Survivor, the series was nominated in the AI category where Aurat Raaj competed with contestants across the globe to win the prestigious tve Global Sustainability Film Award for their animated series. The category in which Aurat Raaj emerged victorious puts a spotlight on films that demonstrate the potential of AI in future good.
Aurat Raaj is an alumnus of The Nest I/O and has also been selected for this year’s cohort of i2i Accelerator. The digital platform produces rich content about gender equality, women empowerment, and inclusion. The platform’s AI chatbot, Raaji, helps women (and men) to recover from gender violence and tackles questions related to reproduction health and myths in developing countries.
Aurat Raaj also won the local rounds of the global She Loves Tech competition this year, and represented Pakistan at the global rounds at Beijing. As a one-stop shop for women empowerment, the platform has taken several initiatives for safety and economic inclusion of women in developing countries. These initiatives include a web-based blog, animated series, chatbots and a database of helpline numbers for women in the crisis situation.
