Attock Discovers Gold Reserves Valued at Rs800 Billion

ISLAMABAD: Ibrahim Hassan Murad, a former minister of mines and minerals of Punjab, has stated that the Attock district in that province has found gold reserves worth Rs800 billion.

Murad reported that a 32-kilometer region in Attock contains an enormous 2.8 million tolas of gold, which has been verified via thorough investigation (according to the Geological Survey of Pakistan).

“This revelation, validated by the Geological Survey of Pakistan, highlights the immense potential of Punjab’s natural resources,” the ex-minister wrote in a post on X.

The former minister of Punjab made public the fact that 127 locations were sampled extensively by the Geological Survey of Pakistan.

After the former minister’s claims, the current provincial Minister of Mines and Minerals, Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, also confirmed that a large gold mine has been found.

The minister stated that the government is currently engaged in determining the market value of the gold deposits found by the Geological Survey of Pakistan. He estimates that these reserves are worth between Rs600 billion and Rs700 billion.

In addition, Section 144 was enforced by the Punjab government in an effort to prevent the stealing of gold from the mines. He went on to say that the government is planning an auction in a month and has already drafted the procedures for it, but they need cabinet approval.

“An auction committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Attock deputy commissioner,” the official said.
