Dubai will host the first installment of ‘Innovation 4 Impact’, a competition hosted by Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA). Innovation 4 Impact is a global paltform for chosen entrepreneurs to show their products, services or businesses to a panel of experts and an audience of existing entrepreneurs, opinion leaders and trade visitors. The event will be held at the Global Islamic Economy Summit (GIES 2015) from October 5th – 6th 2015 at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.
The event is being managed by Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre (DIEDC) in collaboration with the American Muslim Consumer Consortium, who aim to support start-ups and businesses trying to make a presence in the Islamic digital economy. They will also work as an incubator for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) globally. The competition is open for all, the only limitation is to have a “groundbreaking” idea or a promising business venture.
The initiative aims to honor a shared commitment between the DOSA and the DIEDC, as support for rising economies by offering a versatile and permissive environment to incubate and develop technology ventures in the UAE and other regions.
Applicants can apply to the following sectors:
1. E-commerce
2. Mobile computing
3. Cloud computing
4. Big data
5. Hyper-converged platforms
6. New media and social media
Application ideas will be judged on different aspects, which include: innovation, economic and social impact, as well as taking into account the scalability for the product or service across other markets and regions.
The winner will be selected through a vote of the jury and the audience. The results will be announced on the last day of the Global Islamic Economy Summit (GIES) 2015. The selection of prizes that await the lucky winner include an array of financial, incubational and recreational support. Additionally, the winning entrepreneur will also get significant exposure through a special showcase highlighted in the GIES 2015.
