Plan9, as we all know, is a government backed incubator for providing the relevant resources to early startups and entrepreneurs. Incubatees can get the maximum advantage with the available management resources and relevant guidance at no equity at all. Recently, we heard that a large sum of money has been set aside for government-backed VC fund for budding entrepreneurs in collaboration with business families of Pakistan. Plan9 might make an official announcement for the VC fund at the end of the application cycle for the 6th incubation.
Plan9 has opened up applications for their 6th incubation cycle. You will have one month to submit your applications till PST 6:00 pm, 21st May, 2015. They will also organize Open Day at the incubator every Friday between 3pm and 6pm during the application submission time period. You will get the chance to spend few hours at Plan9 and talk to the people who run the incubator. This will be a great opportunity for applicants to get the feel of the incubator and its function beforehand.
The applicants will be shortlisted after the online applications and skype interviews for the Launchpad to be held in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. The Launchpad will comprise of 3 days packed with trainings, exercises and one-to-one mentorship.The incubation will only be offered in Lahore and out of station startups or individuals will have to move to Lahore for about 6 months.
Plan9 is slowly expanding its operations to other cities through the partnership with the university incubators. However, we do hope that public incubators are also constructed in major cities in Pakistan in the future.
