Apple has announced the second generation AirPods with a new wireless charging case.
The Cupertino-based tech giant yesterday announced its latest Bluetooth headphones, AirPods 2. The new AirPods come packed with H1 chip and boast improvements over its predecessor including improved battery life and hands-free Siri. Apple says that the new AirPods come with 50% better talk-time and can now feature faster switching between devices.
The users will be able to buy the second-generation AirPods either with a wired charging case or with a wireless charging case, which has been introduced for the first time by the company. The Wireless charging case will work with Qi wireless charging pad, a uniform standard which is being used for wireless charging by both Android and iPhone devices. The users would also be able to purchase the Wireless charging case separately, a buy that could be a catch for the last-gen AirPods users who want to jump on the new technology.
Apple previously had been using the W1 chip in its AirPods. The W1 chip was from Apple Watches, the H1 chip, on the other hand, is a specialized chip for Apple-branded wireless headphones. The chip has been optimized for headphones and hence, leads to better battery timing, improved mic clarity and better Bluetooth switching times. Apple has also added hands-free access to Siri and the users would be able to access the assistant by just saying, “Hey, Siri”.
Apple also recently announced new products from its iPad and Mac series. These products were expected to release around or on Apple’s scheduled event on March 25. But, it seems that Apple wants to reserve that event for its services offering especially the Apple News.
