Apple’s iPhones slow down as the batteries get old, report

Apple is globally renowned for treating various problems of its iPhones and iPads by making adequate changes in its operating system via updates. This could be the reason that the iOS has been declared more secure than Android, in several reports. However, this new report by Geekbench founder John Poole indicates a different sort of problem. The Cupertino based tech giant reportedly reduces the speed of the processors in iPhones with old and worn batteries, which makes their performance slow.

You might have noticed your older iPhone slowing down, the problem might be tied to its battery. John Poole, the founder of Primate Labs, the company behind the popular Geekbench processor a benchmarking software, has said that iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 devices have encountered a problem that is spreading widely, as the blog post says, “The problem will only get worse as phones (and their batteries) continue to age.”

The analyst observed that as the batteries get older and lose capacity, their processors slow down, which ultimately results in the decrease of performance. Poole elaborates that users expect their phones to perform the same regardless of how old the battery is, but his tests indicate that this isn’t the case.

Apple usually updates its operating system when a bug appears in iOS, the update fixes the bug but it also affects battery of the older version of iPhones. iPhones are not popular with giving huge batteries they are usually below 3,000mAh and the company optimizes its software and operating system for lesser use of batteries. The research reveals that if your good old phone is slow, you may be thinking of replacing it with a new one, however, you need to reconsider as your battery could be the culprit.
