The popular 6.1-inch is joined by a new, bigger 6.7-inch model, which has a new dual-camera system, Crash Detection, a smartphone industry-first safety feature with Emergency SOS via satellite, and the greatest battery life on iPhone.
Apple has released its high-end iPhone 14 Pro versions, each with the A16 processor and upgraded cameras — but no notch in replacement of a pill nicknamed the Dynamic Island.
The new iPhone Pro was the highlight of Apple’s “Far Out” event on September 7, and the two high-end versions have seen the most difference since the iPhone 13 series in 2021. Only the Pro models have received Apple’s A16 CPU, as predicted, thus the Pro models will be running on a newer chip than the normal iPhone range for the first time.
Always-On Display
Apple has launched an always-on display, which displays content even when the phone is turned off. With a 1Hz refresh rate, Live Activities, the clock, widgets, and dynamic wallpapers will fade but remain readable.
Stunning Design and Retina Display
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, available in the traditional 6.1-inch size and a striking new 6.7-inch size, offer a sturdy and elegant aerospace-grade aluminum body in five attractive finishes.
The bigger display of the iPhone 14 Plus is ideal for watching movies and playing games, and it has the best battery life of any iPhone.
Both versions include a redesigned internal architecture for improved thermal efficiency, as well as stunning Super Retina XDR screens with OLED technology that enable 1200 nits of peak HDR brightness, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and Dolby Vision.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus also includes the robust Ceramic Shield front cover, which is proprietary to the iPhone and harder than any other smartphone glass, and are water and dust-resistant.
The new Super Retina XDR display offers the same HDR brightness as the Pro Display XDR at 1600 nits. On a sunny day, it may reach 2,000 nits.
Dynamic Island Feature
Notifications are hidden behind Dynamic Island, which Apple refers to as the new Face ID sensor housing. Animations and transitions make advantage of the sensor housing as a foundation for displaying content that responds to app events.
A15 Bionic chip
The A15 Bionic chip boosts the performance of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The 5-core GPU is still faster than the competition at any price, enabling even smoother graphics for video apps and high-performance gaming, as well as powering incredible camera features like Photonic Engine and Cinematic mode, all while delivering impressive battery life and protecting privacy and security with the Secure Enclave.
The 6-core CPU handles demanding tasks quickly and effectively, while the 16-core Neural Engine can perform 15.8 trillion operations per second, allowing for even faster machine learning computations for iOS 16 features and third-party app experiences.
5G Connectivity and all-new eSIM Feature
iPhone users can keep in contact, share, and enjoy content with faster downloads and uploads, improved streaming, and real-time communication with 5G. 8 Support for 5G on iPhone is currently available from over 250 carrier partners in over 70 countries, with enhanced support for independent networks.
eSIM enables consumers to connect to or rapidly transfer their existing plans digitally, is a more secure alternative to a physical SIM card, and allows users to utilize several cellular plans on a single device. For US versions, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus eliminates the SIM tray, allowing consumers to set up their smartphones more quickly and simply.
Crash Detection
Thanks to sophisticated gyroscopes, the iPhone 14 Pro can detect a crash as well. Apple has included a new satellite function for SOS communications in areas where cellular service is unavailable.
Fitness+ for iPhone Users
Later this fall, for the first time, Apple Fitness+ will be available to all iPhone users in the 21 countries where it is available, even if they do not own an Apple Watch. The full program, which includes over 3,000 studio-style exercises and meditations guided by a diverse and inclusive staff of trainers, will be available to iPhone users.
Users of Fitness+ will get on-screen trainer assistance and interval pacing, and estimated calories burnt will be utilized to advance on their Move ring. Fitness+ will be fully linked with the Fitness app that will be available with iOS 16 and will be located in the center tab, where users will be able to stay encouraged to finish their Move ring through prizes, activity sharing, and other means. Signing up requires only an iPhone, and users may then enjoy Fitness+ on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
iOS 16
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus include iOS 16, which has a revamped Lock Screen as well as new communication, sharing, and intelligence capabilities that redefine the way people interact with iPhone. With a multilayered effect that beautifully positions subjects of images in front of the clock and freshly designed widgets that deliver information at a glance, the Lock Screen is more personal, attractive, and helpful than ever.
The wallpaper gallery has a variety of alternatives for Lock Screen inspiration, including Apple collections, a Weather wallpaper that shows real weather conditions as they change throughout the day, an Astronomy wallpaper that shows views of the Earth, moon, and solar system, and many more. Users may now modify or remember recently sent messages in Messages, as well as mark discussions as unread to revisit them later. The iCloud Shared Photo Library makes it much easy to share a photo collection with relatives.
Live Text gains strength by recognizing text in video and rapidly converting currencies, translating text, and more, while Visual Look Up gains a new function that allows users to press and hold on the subject of a picture to remove it from the background and insert it in applications like Messages.
Camera
The primary camera has a new 48MP sensor that can record photographs in 12MP resolution. It combines four pixels into one huge picture pixel in order to catch more light.
Because of cropping into the 48MP sensor without compromising quality, the bigger sensor size also allows for a 2x zoom at full size. Users may shoot full-sized 48MP photographs using ProRAW. The Ultra Wide camera retains its 12MP resolution but has three times the light collection capabilities. This enables considerably improved macro photography. Thanks to the new image signal processor, Cinematic mode can film in full 4K at 30fps.
Colors and Price
Space Black, Silver, Gold, and Deep Purple are the colors available for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Customers may purchase the iPhone 14 Pro for $999, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max for $1,099. Pre-orders begin on September 9 and will ship on September 16.
