Apple to release 5G iPad Pro in 2021 says Ming-Chi Kuo

According to the latest report by Industry’s most reputable Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will be using a new “LCD Soft Board” in its 2020 iPad Pros, while the 2021 iPad Pros are expected to feature 5G technology.

The “LCD Soft Board” technology will potentially improve iPad’s wireless communication and reception and will nicely set it up for the introduction of 5G technology in iPads 2021. In an investor note, the TF international Security analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that a one-year upgrade production of the iPad Pro family will start sometime in the fourth quarter of 2019 or the first quarter of 2020.

The analyst claims that there will not be any physical change in the design of iPad Pro, however, there will be some internal upgrades. As mentioned above, Apple will use a new component called “LCP soft board”, adopting liquid-crystalline polymer resin which will be used to connect wireless antennas to their logic boards in the next generation iPad Pros. Apple has been notorious for bad signal reception from the time of iPhone 4G which sparked the ‘Antenna Gate’ controversy.

Even in recent times iPhone X and XS models have had shockingly poor signal reception compared to Android phones (with Qualcomm chips) in general. A major reason for this lackluster performance was the Intel modem chips which lagged behind Qualcomm’s chips in this category.

However, the upcoming iPads might fix this problem the report claimed that LCP Soft Board will be used to connect the antenna to the motherboard, which will supposedly help reduce signal loss and improve overall networking performance. If turns out to be true this would be the second good news for Apple fans in a week as earlier it was announced that the 2020 iPhones will feature Qualcomm’s chips which will drastically improve iPhone’s signal reception.

Furthermore, there are rumors that a firm by the name of ‘Murata’ will provide the component for the LCP soft boards for 2020 iPads. It should be noted that Murata already provides some components for the iPhones as well.
