Apple Offers Up to $68 in Savings on iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max in China

Apple Offers 68 Off Iphone 16 Pro In China

BEIJING: In China, from January 4th to the 7th, Apple will be running a four-day sale on its newest iPhone models, with savings of up to 500 yuan ($68.50).

When you buy certain iPhone models using certain payment methods, including Alipay or WeChat Pay, you’ll get a discount.

The biggest discounts of 500 yuan will be given to the top iPhone 16 Pro, which starts at 7,999 yuan, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which starts at 9,999 yuan. For 400 yuan, you can get the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus on sale.

Apple is also selling older iPhone models, MacBooks, and iPads at small discounts ranging from 200 to 300 yuan.

Apple is seeing increasing competition in China, especially from Huawei, which has solidified its position in the premium smartphone market, prompting this action. Soon after re-entering the premium market in August 2023 with domestically manufactured chipsets, Huawei cut the pricing of several high-end products, including cellphones, by as much as 3,000 yuan.

iPhone Model Original Price (yuan) Discount (yuan)
iPhone 16 Pro 7,999 500
iPhone 16 N/A 400
iPhone 16 Pro Max 9,999 500
iPhone 16 Plus N/A 400

Apple briefly fell out of China’s top five smartphone makers in Q2 2024, but it surged back up in Q3. While Huawei saw a 42% increase in sales in China during the third quarter, Apple saw a 0.3% loss compared to the same period last year, according to IDC data.

China’s consumers are still being careful about spending because the economy is slowing down and there are signs of deflation. In November, consumer inflation hit its lowest level in five months.
