There has been a lot of anticipation regarding the upcoming 10th anniversary special smartphone from Apple, the iPhone 8. We have already been seeing a lot of leaks rolling out of the rumor-mill. It, now, seems that Apple itself has confirmed the all-screen front design of the iPhone 8, as it was being proposed in earlier leaks.
The design was leaked with a firmware released by Apple itself. Apple released an early version of the firmware for its upcoming HomePod device last week. After the release of the Operating System, the developers started examining its code, digging out its architecture. While going through the code, iOS experts Steve Troughton-Smith and Guilherme Rambo were able to find out references and hints to the upcoming smartphone, iPhone 8.
A developer found out an image within the code, explaining how the smartphone would look like from the front. The image, referenced to as “D22”, seems to confirm an edge-to-edge display with no home button.
The firmware was also found to include code with reference and support for infrared face detection features as employed with something named as the BiometricKit framework. Different leaks have been pointing that for smartphone unlock at least, Apple would be ditching the touch ID with some 3D face-sensing technology.
It would be worth mentioning here that, nothing can be said with 100% surety about the upcoming iPhone 8 until it is officially launched by Apple. However, it seems highly unlikely that the company would possibly have trolled its users by an image that confirms the already leaked tips that too at a time when the release could be just a couple of months away.
