Apple Launching the new iPhone 14 today: 10 pm PST

It will begin tonight, September 7, at 10 p.m. PST, and will likely introduce new wearable gadgets in the form of the Apple Watch Series 8 and ruggedized Apple Watch Pro, as well as redesigned AirPods Pro 2 earphones with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro debuts.

And that might just be the tip of the iceberg; while we’re expecting another launch event in October, where M2 MacBook Pro machines and M2 iPad tablets are expected to be announced, there’s also the elephant in the room, which is continuous reports about an Apple VR headset. Could the Far Out event provide an early look at the Cupertino company’s all-new product category?

TechJuice will be covering the launch from the first leaks and speculations to the moment the curtain falls at the Steve Jobs Theater.

It’s amazing to observe how well Apple did at the tail end of the COVID-19 epidemic – its consumers were clearly smitten with the iPhone 13 range and were prepared to spend on those expensive personal gadgets after a couple of years of uncertainty. However, recent quarterly results paint a little bleaker picture as the financial consequences of the pandemic begin to take impact and anticipation for new models (and slower sales of departing models) begin to be reflected in the figures.

Even yet, considering global market conditions, the recent months have been pretty solid.

There’s a lot of speculation regarding the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro having satellite communication capabilities – and we’re not talking about GPS here. Instead, it’s been proposed that a future iPhone would be able to use satellite connectivity to make calls and send texts in an emergency.

So, how about the new phones’ cameras? Again, all of the speculations so far point to the iPhone 14 Pro as the device of choice for camera enhancements. We anticipate a boost from the ordinary 12-megapixel sensor to a significantly bigger 48-megapixel array in the Pro versions.

What is Apple doing to handle such a big increase? If early case leaks are to be believed, it will do this via a significantly bigger camera bump on the device’s back. The next iPhone may remain compact, but the bump is growing in size, with everything from the flash to the LiDAR sensor gaining a little more breathing room.

There are also rumors that the iPhone 14 will have an ‘enhanced’ A15 chip, which will be somewhat improved over the iPhone 13 series, as previously mentioned, rather than a completely new chip design.

Will the iPhone 14 event have an Apple Watch SE 2?

Despite the fact that it is the day of Apple’s major Far Out event, there is one device we believe will be introduced that we don’t know much about.

The Apple Watch SE 2 is anticipated to be introduced later at the event, although the rumor mill has remained silent on what additions it could contain. We don’t foresee any significant design changes or new functionality. After all, the original iPhone SE was designed to be a low-cost watch. It’s not meant to be the headliner of the Apple Watch range, much like the iPhone SE.

Still, if Apple releases a second generation today, a CPU upgrade, maybe as powerful as the S7 that powers the Apple Watch Series 7, would almost certainly be included.

Apple made news a few weeks ago when the iPhone’s battery % feature reappeared in the iOS 16 beta. With reports of the iPhone 14 Pro design ditching the notch in favor of a cutout, we’ve been wondering if the battery percentage may revert to where it was when the iPhone X was released.

If a story is correct, we may be returning to the days when the % and battery icons were separate and displayed in the upper right corner.

According to reports, Apple is at least developing a new form of AirPods that will remove the characteristic stem, making them thinner and more comparable to Apple’s Beats Studio Buds. However, new leaks and images indicate that the buds themselves will maintain a design similar to the original pair. That implies the same white, stemmed design with silicone tips will be used. Apple may alter the design of the AirPods Pro 2 case, but we’ll have to wait until the event to find out.

While new iPhones, Apple Watch models, and AirPods Pro are expected to be announced this week, there are several items that we can almost certainly rule out. Apple is not anticipated to announce any new Macs or iPads, so if those are what you’re looking for, keep your expectations in check. Apple is also unlikely to reveal any significant new home gadgets, such as Apple TV or HomePod, although it may reveal some intriguing service announcements. We also wouldn’t put our expectations in Apple VR or any other type of headgear.
