Apple offers you a job if you discover a hidden page on its website

Top tech giants are known to use unconventional ways to hire people. A guy once wrote a blog on how Google offered him a challenge after he repeatedly searched for programming terms. This eventually led to him getting hired by the company. Now it appears, Apple is dropping breadcrumbs on its official website that are actually job postings. If you can find it, you can apply for the job.

The news came to light when Zack Whittaker, a Security Editor for ZDNet, tweeted out a screenshot from the Apple website which read that the company is looking for a “talented engineer to develop a critical infrastructure component that is to be a key part of the Apple ecosystem.”

Since something like this is bound to pique anyone’s interest, people bombarded Zack with questions on how he found the posting. He wrote a blog post addressing the questions and very humbly said that even though he discovered the job posting, that doesn’t mean he is the right person for the job.

“I was using Burp Suite, a traffic analyzer, to intercept data between several iPhone apps to see what kind of personal data was sent along to advertisers,” Zack stated in the blog post.

During his discovery adventure, he noticed that there were several outbound links to one of Apple’s ‘blobstore’ servers. He picked up the web address, entered it in a browser and was welcomed with a job offer from Apple!

The web address “us-east-1.blobstore.apple.com” has now been taken down.

But this doesn’t mean this was the only job posting on Apple’s website. It’s time to put on the Sherlock Holmes hat and start finding clues.
