If you are dying to get your hands on the new iPhone X, your torturous wait is about to get extended because its production hasn’t even started yet.
Christopher Caso, a Raymond James chip analyst, during his travels through Asia conducted checks on Apple’s supply chain and found that work is yet to begin on the much-awaited iPhone X. Apple has slated its sale between late October to early November but it looks like at the current pace, there will be a significant delay before eager customers will be able to get their hands on iPhone X.

In an investor’s note obtained by Barron’s, Caso states that while there were numerous production delays already, a bigger delay can be expected since the production will begin in mid-October. As a result, full production could be delayed until December.
The note said:
“Interestingly, while the industry widely anticipated a shift in iPhone ramp timing, our checks suggest there was an incremental delay in the build plans – with orders firmed up as recently as last week – shifting production more into the December quarter.
While our checks are ongoing, initial feedback from our meetings suggests that final production of iPhone X has not yet begun, with production expected to commence in mid-October. That production start is about a month later when compared to expectations a month ago, and about 2 months later than expectations at the end of June. Notably, this is consistent with commentary from Diodes last week suggesting the timing had changed since reporting June quarter results and is important as it relates to tone and expectations for the December quarter.”

Apple says it will start taking pre-orders for iPhone X on October 27 and the phone is expected to launch on November 3. However, keeping these delays in mind and the fact that production is yet to begin, you may have to end waiting quite a lot. Maybe even till 2018.
