Apple iPhone Coming to Pakistan by Year’s End

Apple iPhone fans, rejoice.

According to the details made privy to ProPakistani by its sources, Apple is planning to launch its iPhone lineup in Pakistan officially. Details are scarce at this stage but what is yet known points to the possibility that Apple will most likely launch its much-desired, premium iPhone series of smartphones locally by the end of this year.

Apple is reportedly in talks with local telcos to launch the iPhone in the country with their partnership. According to ProPakistani, all telecom operators have agreed to allow for the launch possibility.

An official launch of the Apple iPhone series in the country will not only translate to the availability of iPhones on official price tags at the time of global launch alongside Apple’s top-notch warranty plans and support, but it would also mean that iPhone users in Pakistan will finally be able to enjoy all Apple services locally.

Currently the iPhones available in the country are sold via grey channel distribution (for instance the online and brick-and-mortar retailers who import the handsets in the country to sell them without any official warranty or support), and people who wish to lay their hands on a unit have to pay a premium on top of the original price.

While we are still a long way from contract-based pricing plans like the ones found in foreign countries where iPhone is officially available, this is a welcome progress that, should it actually materialize into something substantial, will benefit the local smartphone buyers.
