Apple has introduced a new software update watchOS5 in its popular smartwatch to get new health and fitness tracking features.
At Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2018, Apple previewed a new walkie-talkie feature for its smartwatch aimed to help people stay healthy and connected. Walkie-Talkie is an entirely new way to communicate with voice by just tapping of the wrist. You send a request to your friend or family who can either accept or ignore it. If they accept it, you can then talk to them by sending a short voice message. They can then respond with an audio message of their own voice.
Apple VP of Technology Kevin Lynch said at WWDC, “It’s a fun, easy way to talk with friends and family.”
Walkie-Talkie is a fun and easy way to quickly get in touch with friends and family. This new kind of watch to watch communication is fast, personal and can be activated between any compatible Apple Watch users around the world over Wi-Fi or cellular. Apple first introduced the Walkie-Talkie feature back in 2014, but until now the feature did not make its way into the Watch.
Other new features introduced at WWDC 2018, include a new Podcasts app, the ability to play background audio, and a customizable Control Center. Apple will release the watchOS 5 for the Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3 Apple Watch later this year. The Watch will not be compatible with the first-generation smartwatch released in 2015.
