Apple Intelligence is set to launch: Here’s what you need to know

Apple has unveiled its highly anticipated Apple Intelligence system, coming with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. This revolutionary AI system also known as the personal intelligence system uses generative models together with personal context to provide intelligence that is not only useful but also very relevant.

Apple Intelligence features

The Apple Intelligence system will improve productivity, privacy, and usability on all Apple devices. There are Writing Tools for summarizing and editing the text, Clean up in Photos to remove unnecessary background, and smarter notifications with the option of Priority Messages and fewer notifications. Apple has also made a huge upgrade on Siri its voice assistant tool by making it more flexible and natural through enhanced context–following capability and a new interface.

Like most of other Apple Intelligence services, the service primarily focuses on on-device processing to keep the user data safe. Slightly more sophisticated demands rely on Private Cloud Compute, a sophisticated system that processes information in the cloud without storing or transmitting it to Apple.

The additional tools, such as Image Playground for generating unique images and Genmoji for generating unique emojis, show that Apple Intelligence is a breakthrough in the introduction of artificial intelligence into routine digital work and is consistent with Apple’s commitment to protecting the privacy of its users.

Finally, for those who decide to engage with ChatGPT via Siri or Writing Tools, privacy considerations come integrated, IP addresses are masked, and OpenAI will not retain the requests. People can use ChatGPT without signing up, and the AI language model’s data usage terms apply to those who decide to link their accounts.

Apple Intelligence eligible phones

The entire iPhone 16 lineup will gain Apple Intelligence post-iOS 18.1 update, including the entry-level iPhone 16, making it the most affordable iPhone eligible for Apple Intelligence. Here’s a list of current Apple devices that will be able to run Apple Intelligence:
