Apple fixes one FaceTime bug only to encounter another one

A programmer’s life is half spent fixing the software he or she has made. Apple recently patched a serious FaceTime bug that allowed callers to listen to the audio of the person they were calling before the call has been connected. This issue was with group calls to be precise. Apple issued an update earlier this month to fix that particular issue but apparently, another problem has arisen with it.

As previously noted, you could eavesdrop on another person before they connect on a group call. Now users are facing an issue where they can’t add a third person to a group call if two people are already talking. The  “Add Person” button is grayed out. The only way around this is to call all participants at the start of the FaceTime group call but if you have forgotten to add a person, you will be forced to disconnect the call and re-add all participants including the one you missed, again.

The group call issue took Apple quite some time to fix. They also disabled the feature until a patch was rolled out because it was a potential privacy issue. The group call issue emerged on January 28 and it was patched on 7th Feb, now this new issue has emerged. Whether Apple chooses to treat it as an “issue” or if it is intentional remains to be seen.

What are your thoughts regarding this Facetime issue? Do you think it should be patched? Let us know!
