Four years ago, Apple claimed that Samsung was infringing upon its patents. Now, after a very public legal battle, Apple has finally been awarded the right to ban Samsung devices.
The victory, even though it comes 4 years late, is very symbolic for Apple who have been fighting over what their Chief Design Officer went on to call “lazy thieving” on Samsung’s part.
The devices being banned by a US Court of Law include nine Samsung devices:
The court order today says that Samsung must cease sales of the nine devices in the US immediately.
Four years ago, Apple went to court with Samsung on the dispute over the ‘slide to unlock’ feature, data-linking and auto-correct functionality. While Apple has every reason to celebrate, this ban comes very late as most of these Samsung products have been replaced by newer flagship models and several have been off the shelf for years now.
The win also doesn’t apply to Samsung’s more modern devices, but it does likely set a precedent for further cases in the future.
