Apple Delays iOS 19’s Enhanced Siri and Additional New Features Until 2026

Apple is set to introduce significant enhancements to Siri with the upcoming iOS 19 update, expected to launch in June 2025.  According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the update will incorporate advanced large language models (LLMs), enabling Siri to handle more complex tasks and engage in more natural, conversational interactions.

The updated version of Siri is set to be revealed at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025. However, users might have to wait until early 2026 for access, likely coinciding with the release of the iOS 19.4 update.

In the interim, iOS 18 continues to evolve. The latest iOS 18.2 update has successfully incorporated ChatGPT into Siri, and there are expectations for future updates to bring in integration with Google’s Gemini. iOS 18.4 is set to bring enhancements like on-screen awareness and refined per-app controls, while full conversational capabilities are anticipated to arrive with the iOS 19 update.

Furthermore, certain features that were originally slated for iOS 19 have been delayed until spring 2026, aligning with the anticipated launch of iOS 19.4. Gurman highlights that an unusually high number of features are facing delays, linking this to Apple’s phased introduction of its Apple Intelligence capabilities in iOS 18, which has influenced the development schedule for iOS 19.

Compatible Devices

In terms of compatibility, it is believed that iOS 19 will be compatible with devices that are similar to iOS 18, with devices like iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 11 series, iPhone SE 3rd generation, iPhone SE 2nd generation, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus,

Nevertheless, some features may not be available on earlier versions of the model. This would be the second straight year Apple has not dropped support for any iPhone models with a new iOS version, unlike iOS 17 which dropped support for the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

The first iOS 19 beta is anticipated to arrive at WWDC in June 2025, with a full release expected in September.
