According to Flurry statistics, Apple has topped the list of manufacturers with most device activations during holidays by claiming 44 percent of total market share. Samsung is second in this list with 21 percent market share.
Flurry, a subsidiary of Yahoo, is a mobile analytics and advertising company. The mobile and technology related surveys are done by analyzing customers’ interactions and mobile usage. The data was collected during the Christmas holiday week from December 19 to December 25. Mobile phones and tablets were the most commonly gifted items.
For every Samsung device activated, Apple claimed two. Other devices that made it to the list were Huawei, LG, Amazon, Oppo, Xiaomi and Motorolla. The report reads:
“Holding the third and fourth positions for activations are Huawei and LG; which is remarkable, as both manufacturers do not have an individual device within the top 35 devices activated. Their high rank is likely due to the fact that they have wide variety of devices and affordable options (hundreds of phablet and medium phones) for consumers to choose from.”
The devices activated were medium phones, small phones, phablets, small tablets and full-size tablets. Medium phones saw the most number of activations (45%), while phablets grabbed the second spot with 37% activations. Phablets have shown major upswing since last year.
Most popular categories of the applications installed during holiday period were messaging, social, music, media, entertainment, games and kids & family.
