Android 8.0 Oreo beta is now available for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+

Android Oreo was announced more than 2 months ago and it is already available for Pixel and Nexus devices. All other manufacturers are trying their best to deliver the Oreo update on their flagship devices. Samsung has now started rolling out the Android Oreo beta update for the Galaxy S8 and S8+.

How to get the beta update?

To enroll into the beta program, you must have Samsung+ app installed on your phone. Once you install the app on your device, look for the “Galaxy Beta Program” option under “Registration” menu. Just tap on it and you’ll be enrolled in Samsung Galaxy beta program. Once registered, check for the updates in Settings > Software Updates on your phone.

There’s one more thing to keep in mind that the beta program is on first come first serve basis. Samsung will stop the beta when a few thousand people install it on their phone.

What does the new update offer?

The beta update includes Samsung Experience 9.0 and Samsung is boasting about it a lot. The update is bringing detailed control of notifications, new app icon badges, notification dots, and long press for context menus. History for search bar is also a part of the update. You can also snooze notifications from a specific app for a specific period of time. It also has new and redesigned emoji.

According to some users on Reddit, the new update is much smoother than the Android 7.0 and is as smooth as the Note 8 and Google Pixel 2. The camera app also got a fresh redesign and the overall battery life is also improved.

Most of the other things are same. The user interface and transitions are also same but they are now smoother than before.
