Amazon’s Echo Auto has begun to ship after more than a million pre-orders

Back in September, Amazon announced a variety of Alexa devices, including the Echo Auto. Amazon might have gone a little overboard with all the Alexa devices as they included products like a microwave and a wall clock. However, Amazon has turned the Echo Auto into reality.

At the CES held in Las Vegas, Amazon’s Alexa booth displayed the new Echo Auto device. A few weeks ago, this device has started being shipped to a small group of customers. This device will become available to everyone later this year at the price of $49.99. However, pre-ordering it now would only cost you $24.99.

Ned Curic, VP of Alexa Auto, stated that “demand is through the roof,” for the Echo Auto. Amazon has received over 1 million pre-orders for the new Alexa device. Curic also said that the device had just started being shipped. He did not mention the reason behind the delay in shipping of the Echo Auto. However, he assured that orders will continue to be fulfilled at a rapid pace.

As the name suggests, the Echo Auto will get synced with the user’s car. The device will allow the user to control music, navigation, podcasts, e-books and even smart appliances at home. It can work with third-party applications like Google Maps, and music players like Spotify, Pandora, etc. However, the device doesn’t work with in-car platforms like Apple’s CarPlay or Android Auto.

In addition to that, there are some models of smartphones that will not work with the Echo Auto, these models are listed on a support page made by Amazon. These smartphones include models from HTC, Huawei, and LG.
