Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and novelist MacKenzie are getting a divorce after 25 years of marriage, as per a statement on Jeff’s Twitter account. Before their marriage, MacKenzie used to work for Jeff at D.E. Shaw, a New York City hedge fund. She has studied at Princeton University, same alma mater as Jeff, and has 4 children.
The joint statement from Jeff’s account can be seen below:

If we talk in terms of valuation, Jeff currently owns 16.3 percent of Amazon according to the latest statistics and that will be split equally between the two, 8.15 percent share each. Jeff would still remain the largest shareholder in the company along with his former wife if the scenario goes this way but we are not sure yet about the partitioning of shares of for now.
The Bezos couple was currently the richest in the world as Amazon became the most valuable company in the world with $811 billion market capitalization and Jeff’s net worth amounting to $137 billion according to Forbes. The couple also had a charity fund called Bezos Day One Fund from which they planned to give away $2 billion. It’s not clear again what would be the impact of the divorce on the fund.
Are you shocked by this divorce? What do you think will be the impact of this divorce on Amazon’s ownership?
