Alibaba’s strategic partner Whale Cloud to invest $70 million in Pakistan

Alibaba’s strategic partner in cloud security, Whale Cloud is set to bring a whopping $70 million investment in Pakistan. The company plans to invest $70 million in the country over the next two years once the deal is struck between the two parties.

Whale Cloud is a world-leading data intelligence company which was founded in 2003 and is the largest subsidiary of ZTE (a Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment giant). The company has been involved in ICT domains and telecom data processing for 15 years, today Whale Cloud operates in over 80 countries by providing digital transformation services. Whale Cloud in early 2018 became a strategic partner of Alibaba Cloud.

The CEO of Whale Cloud, Ben Zhou on Friday called the IT and Telecom minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and the two discussed the potential benefits of investing in smart infrastructure by using private cloud services provided by Whale Cloud. Ben Zhou was on a short trip to Pakistan shared his views on how Whale Cloud has helped China and other countries from around the globe in data security and integrity issues by using private cloud services.

The IT and Telecom minister acknowledged the importance of such services and further emphasized the availability of skilled workers in Pakistan who can aid Whale Cloud in implementing their strategic infrastructure planning across the country. The minister further shared his vision for Pakistan by making it the number one human capital hub in the entire Asian region and asked the CEO of Whale Cloud to help him by investing in the human capital of Pakistan.
