Airbnb removes an igloo built by an advertising art director Patrick Horton, who took vantage of the snow storm that has hit New York City. The igloo was charging $200 a night and was promoted as a boutique winter igloo. With an accommodation for two, the tiny snow house was marketed as a hand crafted space built with only natural elements (read: frozen water).
The snow house was constructed in under three hours and listed on Airbnb, however it was taken down from the site just a while after for its exuberant pricing. According to Airbnb, the structure was ‘well constructed’ however it did not meet the basic standards of occupancy such as electricity connection, water pipelines or a door.
The igloo has taken over the internet and has made to the list of bizarre locations ever listed on Airbnb. The hashtag #igloo has been trending to praise the intelligent effort and also to throw critique at the doomed structure.
