Aga Khan University introduces “CCIT Hack 2016”, it’s first ever medical hackathon

Aga Khan University(AKU) is holding its first ever Medical Hackathon and wants nurses, doctors, businessmen, engineers, designers and many others to work together and come up with innovative solutions in the field of medicine.

Named after its benefactor Aga Khan IV, AKU is one of the most prestigious medical institutes of the country. This year, they are introducing a medical hackathon called “CCIT Hack 2016”.

A hackathon is an event where a large number of people meet up to engage in collaborative computer programming. AKU wants to use this opportunity to bring together people from different fields, including business, engineering, technology, and medicine and come up with innovative solutions to problems in an average emergency department in Pakistan.

“It is an interdisciplinary approach to hack solutions to pending problems in the target area which, for this event, is the hospital Emergency Department.”

The 3-day CCIT Hack event will be held from the 13th to the 15th of August at Aga Khan University’s Karachi campus.

How can I Apply?

You can apply for the hackathon by filling the form on this link. Also, note that there is a registration fee(only if you are selected), Rs.700 for students and Rs.1500 for others.

You can find out more details about the event by visiting this link.

AKU is not the first university in Pakistan to indulge in hackathons, although it might be one of the first to do it in the field of medicine. A number of institutes and organizations in the country have now started arranging hackathons, also using these events as a hiring technique.
