Acumen is a global non-profit social venture fund that uses entrepreneurial techniques to combat poverty in the world. Acumen has an HQ in New York with regional offices in Pakistan, India, Kenya and Ghana. Every year they select aspiring individuals from these countries who are excited about eradicating poverty from their region. The Pakistan Regional Fellowship applications are now open.
Acumen is looking for people who are deeply rooted in their country and are energized about driving a social change. They are particularly interested in individuals who are either entrepreneurs who have built their own startups or entrepreneurs working in a position of influence within an organization. Like always, only 20 people will be selected from the plethora of applications. These 20 individuals will then take part in five week-long seminars, receive the tools, training and space to innovate new ideas and become a part of a strong network of social leaders from around the world.
The Fellows program is fully sponsored, allowing participants to remain in their jobs so they can apply what they learn to their work in real time. Some Acumen Fellows from Pakistan include Muhammad Sabir, founder of Slumabad; Maryam Mohiuddin Ahmed, founder of Social Innovation Lab, Waqas Ali, co-founder and CEO of Markhor, Sara Khurram, co-founder of doctHers; Faisal Khan, co-founder and CEO at Peshawar 2.0; Qasim Aslam, founder of The History Project.
If you have great ideas and want to become well-equipped to play your role in eradicating poverty from Pakistan, consider applying for the Acumen Regional Fellowship.
